3 Wears no shirt to show off his tattoos, face is half coverd by a low laying widebrimmed straw hat. A black hakama with a red belt cover his lowerbody. Has black martial arts slippers and a walking stick. In colder climates would be seen with a dark cloak split to show off his tattoos. On the right he has flames and a sun on his chest, and a breeze on his left.

Can you list what spells you chose? And are you sure you don't want any fighting skills? While Shugenja definitely rely on magic, you might want to consider having a backup option. Remember you can only cast a number of spells per day equal to the ring of that element. So if you're fire ring is 4, then you can only cast four fire spells a day, regardless of if they succeed or not. I would consider kenjutsu or jujitsu. Either one will enable to you to at least do some damage if you're out of spells to cast or are saving one for a really dire circumstance.

i wanted to make him a monkish guy who attacks with his hands. so i could drop the astrology emphasis, and lower investigation, divination and lore back to level one which gives me 8 cp that i would spend on hands of stone, i would also drop wealthy and spend that point in buying jujitsu. so i would roll 5k4 to hit and roll 2k2 damage, then if i cast fires of purity on myself my to raise my damage to 3k3

You could do that, but just remember that Ryan's character is also a martial-arts based monk who is also tattoo'd and puts fire on his hands to attack. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying keep that in mind. If you're going to be all scholarly and inquisitive, and since you already purchased the Yari of the Air spell, why not pick up the spears skill and buy a Yari to use most of the time. This could kind of fit if you see fighting as beneath you so you use a spear to at least keep your distance. It also provides a little more variety in the fighting styles of the characters.

The way it's looking right now, Ryan has a fist-fighting Dragon Monk, Seth is playing a Crab scout who is also a weaponsmith, and Holly is playing a Phoenix shugenja who is all about pure damage spells. When she has to use physical fighting, she'll probably be breaking out her wakizashi. Having a spear-wielding, monkey-obsessed scholar could make it kind of fun.

i think i will just drop wealthy and buy staves, and buy a Bo, then i will drop my emphasis in astrology adn pick up a bo emphasis, which raises my TBHtn by 5

actually i lied im gonna get the emphasis in Jo the dual wield sticks
